How to read this chart

Each group below is one class of NovaStar controller we stock, sorted by price. 8-bit pixel capacity is the figure most source material publishes; 10-bit capacity is shown only where NovaStar documents it separately, since it is lower on most devices. A superscript * marks a capacity derived from published per-port or per-card figures rather than one stated device total — the same distinction the controller calculator flags on its results.

Want to filter by your exact pixel count or canvas size instead of browsing by category? The calculator runs the same data interactively and adds direct add-to-cart links.

Matching an existing wall or need a configuration not shown here — an H Series bundle with different cards, or 10-bit/redundant capacity confirmed for your exact canvas? The calculator covers those cases interactively, or send the pixel count and we size it.

Controller chart FAQ

Short answers on reading capacity figures and pricing.

What is the difference between 8-bit and 10-bit capacity?

8-bit is the pixel total most NovaStar controllers publish as their standard rating. 10-bit color depth reduces the usable pixel total on devices that support it at all — several controllers in this chart do not support 10-bit input, which the chart marks with a dash rather than assuming a number.

Why do some rows show a * next to the capacity?

The * marks a capacity we derived from published per-port or per-card figures — for example, port count times a stated per-port pixel limit — because NovaStar’s source documentation does not give a single combined total for that device. It is not a guess: the per-port or per-card figure it is built from is itself from official documentation.

Why do MX6000 Pro and MX2000 Pro show “modular (output cards)” instead of a port count?

Both are chassis-based COEX controllers whose output capacity comes from the selected output cards (fiber or SFP+), not a fixed port count on the base unit. Port and capacity figures depend on the output-card configuration.

Are the prices on this chart current?

Prices reflect our catalog as of 2026-08-15. Product prices can change; each row links to the live product page, which always shows current price and stock.

Which controller is cheapest for a given pixel count?

Sort intent varies by canvas size and port requirement, so this chart groups by device class and price rather than picking one winner. For an exact pixel count or canvas size, the controller calculator ranks every matching device by price automatically.

What is an H Series bundle price?

Each H Series row bundles one chassis frame with one output card and one input card, itemized in the product’s own listing. Other card combinations change the price and capacity — see the H Series chassis capacity chart for chassis-level position limits.
