NovaStar’s control system recognizes these driver ICs, but their makers do not publish a datasheet we can cite. Rather than print estimates next to a chip that drives real money’s worth of panels, we list them here by manufacturer. Need the numbers for one of them? Ask us — we can request the specification from the manufacturer through our supply chain.

Why the driver IC matters when you buy control hardware

The driver IC decides what a receiving card must be configured for: its parameters live inside the cabinet’s RCFGX configuration, and NovaStar pairs firmware with driver support. Get the chip wrong and the symptoms are the classic ones — ghosting, color blocks, low-gray color shift, flicker. That is why replacing a receiving card starts with knowing the module’s driver, not with the card’s pixel count.

We do not sell driver ICs, and chip-level engineering questions belong with each IC’s manufacturer. This reference exists for the control side: identify the chip, pull its datasheet, and match the NovaStar hardware and files around it.

What is an LED driver IC?

The chip on an LED module that sets each pixel’s brightness by regulating current through the LEDs. Its type and parameters decide the refresh, grayscale and low-bright behavior a panel can reach — our glossary covers the surrounding terms.

How do I find out which driver IC my panel uses?

Two reliable ways: read the chip markings on the module’s driver ICs, or open the panel’s receiving-card configuration in our free RCFGX viewer — the file names the driver IC it was tuned for.

Why are many spec cells empty?

A cell is filled only when a published manufacturer datasheet on file states that value. Where no datasheet is public, the cell stays empty — we do not fill gaps with estimates.

Do you sell driver ICs?

No. We sell the NovaStar control side — receiving cards, controllers and processors. This table exists because the driver IC decides which firmware and configuration your receiving card needs, and chip-level questions belong to the IC’s manufacturer.

What is the difference between PWM and S-PWM?

Both modulate LED on-time to create grayscale. S-PWM (Scrambled PWM) breaks each duty cycle into many shorter slices spread across the frame, which raises visual refresh and reduces flicker on camera compared with conventional PWM at the same clock.
