What is the NovaStar MX_2xHDMI2.1 Input Card for?

Choose this card when two HDMI 2.1 playback or graphics sources need to enter one IN slot of NovaStar MX2000 Pro or MX6000 Pro. The signal path is source → input card → MX chassis → output card, receiving cards and LED wall.

It is an input card, not a controller or LED-output expansion: two HDMI connectors do not create two LED outputs, increase wall pixel capacity or make an unsupported receiving card compatible.

NovaStar MX_2xHDMI2.1 specifications: two HDMI inputs at 8K30

Each HDMI 2.1 input is documented to 8192 × 4320@30 Hz forced. Use it for two HDMI-native playback or graphics sources that must remain separate inputs in the MX system.

HDR10/HLG, custom resolutions and HDCP 2.3 backward compatibility are documented; interlaced input is not supported. NovaStar documents HDMI 2.1 cable paths up to 5 m.

Can MX_2xHDMI2.1 fit your MX2000 Pro or MX6000 Pro source plan?

Yes, when an IN slot is available and the host, input-card model, slot number and firmware match the VMP project. MX2000 Pro has two input-card slots and MX6000 Pro has eight; this dual-input card uses one slot while the output-card and screen map remain separate decisions.

How two HDMI sources reach the LED wall through an MX chassis

Two HDMI-native playback devices or graphics sources can stay separate at the input stage for VMP layer assignment before they continue through the MX chassis to the output-card and receiving-card path. Confirm both forced 8K30 modes and the two 5 m HDMI 2.1 routes before a live event.

The input card consolidates source ingest; it does not decide LED-side capacity or create a second output path.

MX_2xHDMI2.1 vs MX_4 HDMI2.0, dual DP and the mixed input card

Choose MX_2xHDMI2.1 for two HDMI 8K30-class sources. Choose MX_4 HDMI2.0 for four HDMI 4K60-class sources, MX_2xDP1.4 for DP sources, or the mixed card for one DP plus one HDMI source. The choice is source connector and mode, not LED output count.

MX_2xHDMI2.1 Input Card buying and commissioning FAQs

Can both HDMI inputs run at 8K60?

No. The documented 8K-class maximum is 30 Hz per HDMI input.

Does this card add two LED outputs?

No. It adds two HDMI source inputs on one card; LED outputs are determined by the host system.

Can it take interlaced HDMI sources?

No. The official table lists interlaced inputs as unsupported.

When is the four-HDMI card better?

Choose the four-HDMI card when source count at 4K60 matters more than two 8K30-class inputs.

MX_2xHDMI2.1 Input Card order check

Before requesting a quote, confirm the two HDMI source modes, the 8K30 requirement, the cable routes and the MX host slot:

  • List both HDMI source resolutions, frame rates and HDR settings
  • Confirm 8K30 requirement
  • Confirm an MX IN slot is free
  • Record VMP/host/card versions
  • Plan both HDMI cable routes

Send us the two HDMI source formats, required refresh rates, host model and receiving-card or screen plan through our contact page. We can then confirm the correct dual-HDMI input path before you order.
