What is the NovaStar MX_4 HDMI2.0 Input Card for?

Choose this card when a show, presentation or media-server rack needs four independent HDMI source paths in one IN slot of NovaStar MX2000 Pro or MX6000 Pro. The signal path is source → input card → MX chassis → output card, receiving cards and LED wall.

It is an input card, not a controller or LED-output expansion: four HDMI connectors do not create four LED outputs, increase wall pixel capacity or make an unsupported receiving card compatible.

NovaStar MX_4 HDMI2.0 Input Card specifications: four HDMI inputs and 4K60

Each of the four HDMI 2.0 inputs is documented for 4096 × 2160@60 Hz or forced 8192 × 1080@60 Hz. HDR10/HLG, standard/custom EDID modes and HDCP 2.3 backward compatibility are documented, while interlaced input is not supported.

That makes the card a practical four-source 4K60 choice. NovaStar documents HDMI 2.1 cable support up to 5 m, so place the source rack close enough or specify the transport solution before installation.

Can MX_4 HDMI2.0 fit your MX2000 Pro or MX6000 Pro source plan?

Yes, when an IN slot is available and the host, input-card model, slot number and firmware match the VMP project. MX2000 Pro has two input-card slots and MX6000 Pro has eight; this four-input card still consumes only one slot, but it does not bypass the host’s output-card or screen-map limits.

How four HDMI sources reach the LED wall through an MX chassis

A four-source presentation can feed a media server, computers, playback devices or a camera-conversion/switcher chain into the four card inputs while the MX chassis handles the next processing stage. Keep each source independent for VMP layer assignment, then verify EDID/HDCP negotiation, HDR need and cable route for each one.

The result at the wall still depends on the MX output cards, receiving cards and cabinet map. The input card consolidates source ingest; it does not decide the LED-side capacity.

MX_4 HDMI2.0 vs MX_2xHDMI2.1, DP and SDI input cards

Choose MX_4 HDMI2.0 when four HDMI 4K60-class feeds matter more than two 8K30-class sources. Choose MX_2xHDMI2.1 for two HDMI 8K30-class sources, MX_4 DP1.2 for four DP sources, or MX_4 12G-SDI when the production already runs on native SDI.

MX_4 HDMI2.0 Input Card buying and commissioning FAQs

Can this card accept interlaced HDMI video?

No. The official input-card table lists interlaced signals as unsupported.

Does it support HDR sources?

Yes, HDR10 and HLG are documented. Confirm the actual source mode and full system settings before commissioning.

Do four HDMI inputs mean four LED outputs?

No. They are source inputs on one card; the host/output-card configuration controls the LED paths.

When is dual HDMI 2.1 better?

Choose dual HDMI 2.1 when two 8K30-class HDMI sources matter more than four 4K60-class HDMI sources.

MX_4 HDMI2.0 Input Card order check

Before requesting a quote, confirm the four HDMI source modes, the MX host slot and the VMP project details that will carry those sources into the LED system:

  • List all four HDMI source modes and HDR needs
  • Confirm four 4K60-class inputs are required
  • Check EDID/HDCP behavior and cable routes
  • Confirm an MX IN slot is free
  • Record VMP/host/card firmware versions

Send us the four source formats, required refresh rates, host model and receiving-card or screen plan through our contact page. We can then confirm the correct input-card path before you order.
