What is the NovaStar A5s Plus-N receiving card?

The NovaStar A5s Plus-N is the receiving card inside a compatible LED cabinet. It receives image data from the sender and gives that cabinet’s modules their assigned pixel signals. For a new cabinet or a replacement, the card must match the hub board, module driver IC, scan and saved cabinet configuration.

The full model name matters. A5s Plus-N is not a shorthand for A5s Plus, and it is not an A10s Plus-N with a missing digit. Its 512 by 384 capacity at 60 Hz also needs NovaLCT 5.3.1 or later, so the card, cabinet files and software version need to agree before it is ordered.

A5s Plus-N key features

More consistent color across a finished wall

Different sources can make the same screen look too warm, too cool or inconsistent with the rest of a production. A5s Plus-N supports Color Management so a compatible system can use standard or custom color-gamut settings. The sender, modules and calibration still need to be set for the same result.

A replacement module that blends back in

A replacement module that stands out as a brighter or differently coloured rectangle can draw attention from across the room. A5s Plus-N works with NovaStar’s calibration system to apply brightness and chroma correction at pixel level, giving a compatible cabinet a path to bring that module back into the rest of the screen.

Less visible cabinet joins

A bright or dark line at a cabinet join is visible even when every module is functioning. A5s Plus-N supports the adjustment for those seam differences, including a NovaLCT path that does not require changing the video source. A scrambled or mirrored cabinet points to mapping or scan instead, not a seam-adjustment problem.

Portrait orientation when the cabinet is planned for it

The card can rotate the display image in 90-degree steps for a cabinet layout planned in portrait. That function changes the image map; it does not make the hub board, scan or cabinet files of a different card family compatible.

NovaStar A5s Plus-N specifications

A5s Plus-N 512 × 384 cabinet capacity and NovaLCT

One A5s Plus-N can support a 512 by 384 cabinet at 60 Hz when NovaLCT V5.3.1 or later is used. The same cabinet must also stay within 32 parallel RGB data groups and use the correct hub board, scan and module configuration. All of those checks need to describe the same cabinet.

Cabinet check A5s Plus-N condition Buying consequence
Pixel map Up to 512 × 384 at 60 Hz with NovaLCT V5.3.1 or later A larger map needs another card or a different cabinet design.
Parallel RGB data Up to 32 groups Modules using more groups need a higher-group card and matching cabinet path.
Serial data 64 groups; expandable to 128 Confirm how the finished hub board uses the serial route before changing a card.

A matching board outline does not make a cabinet file transferable. Two cards can fit the same space but still need different module data, firmware or cabinet parameters.

A5s Plus-N 18bit+ and low latency: two different screen problems

18bit+ and low latency answer different concerns. At low brightness, 18bit+ increases the available grayscale steps fourfold, helping a compatible wall show fades and dark gradients with less visible stepping. It is a display-quality setting, not a latency setting.

Low latency matters when a camera, live performer or confidence monitor makes delay visible. A5s Plus-N can reduce latency at the receiving-card end to one frame only when its modules use driver ICs with built-in RAM. Check the module electronics before choosing the card for a low-delay screen.

If a screen needs both benefits, record them separately: 18bit+ is an image-quality requirement, while one-frame latency is a module-driver requirement. One feature does not prove the other.

Is your card an A5s Plus-N?

Read the full card label before ordering. A5s Plus-N, A5s Plus and A10s Plus-N are separate receiving-card models. A similar name or board outline does not prove that the hub board, firmware and cabinet configuration will match.

Model Choose it when What to verify
A5s Plus-N The installed label and cabinet documentation identify A5s Plus-N, or a new cabinet is designed around its 512 by 384 path. Confirm NovaLCT version, module data groups, driver IC, hub board and saved configuration.
A5s Plus The cabinet is explicitly documented for A5s Plus. Do not substitute Plus-N files because the two names share a prefix.
A10s Plus-N The cabinet needs the A10s Plus-N feature set and has been designed for that exact card. Read the entire model name and verify the cabinet package rather than ordering from an abbreviated note.

When the old card is missing, a clear photo of the label, hub board and module connectors plus the saved NovaLCT configuration resolves more than a product-family guess does.

A5s Plus-N datasheet, firmware and NovaLCT downloads

The A5s Plus-N datasheet establishes the V5.3.1 capacity condition and exact dimensions. NovaLCT is used to save and restore the receiving-card program and cabinet parameters. Firmware needs a match to the A5s Plus-N PCB and module chips; do not choose a file merely because it was made for another card with “A5s” in the name.

NovaStar A5s Plus-N FAQ

What does the A5s Plus-N receiving card do?

It sits inside a compatible LED cabinet, receives image data from the sender and supplies the assigned pixel data to that cabinet’s modules.

What is the A5s Plus-N load capacity?

It supports up to 512 by 384 at 60 Hz when NovaLCT V5.3.1 or later is used. The cabinet must also match its data groups, hub board, scan and configuration.

Does every A5s Plus-N cabinet have one-frame latency?

No. One-frame latency at the receiving-card end requires modules with driver ICs that have built-in RAM.

What does A5s Plus-N 18bit+ do?

It increases the available grayscale steps fourfold to help a compatible wall show smoother dark gradients at low brightness. It is separate from the low-latency condition.

Is A5s Plus-N the same as A5s Plus?

No. Treat the suffix as part of the model identity. Confirm the full label, hub board, module driver IC and saved cabinet configuration before choosing either card.

Can A10s Plus-N replace an A5s Plus-N?

Not as an automatic card swap. The cabinet interface, module data groups, scan, firmware and configuration need to be confirmed for the exact proposed card.

What should I save before replacing an A5s Plus-N?

Save the working receiving-card program and cabinet parameters in NovaLCT. Those records preserve the cabinet’s scan, wiring and pixel map for a matching replacement.

Does A5s Plus-N support 3D?

It supports 3D output when the sending card supports 3D as well. The source, sender and cabinet need the same 3D configuration.

Can I request A5s Plus-N volume pricing or Net 30?

Yes. Send the cabinet count and spare quantity for volume pricing or eligible Net 30 terms. Include the cabinet model if the order is a replacement.

How is an A5s Plus-N warranty tracked?

Cards from our authorized US NovaStar channel have three years of manufacturer coverage tied to their serial numbers. Keep the serial and cabinet record together for future service.
