BrightSign XD235 is a digital signage player for advanced 4K signage that needs PoE+, stronger motion graphics and standard on-player control. Choose the XD235 when the installation needs a stronger 4K BrightSign player than HD5, especially for PoE-powered locations, smoother WebGL motion and clean wired deployment without USB or serial peripherals.

What is BrightSign XD235?

The BrightSign XD235 is the standard-I/O XD5 player for higher-end 4K signage. It supports 4K HDMI output, PoE-capable Ethernet, GPIO, IR, audio out and microSD playback, giving installers a more capable single-output player for data-driven screens, premium retail displays and LED playback sources that do not need USB or serial on the player.

BrightSign XD235 key features

  • 4K60 HDMI output for premium signage screens, portrait displays and compatible processing hardware
  • PoE/PoE+ capable Ethernet, so many installs can simplify cabling by carrying power and network on the same run
  • Stronger XD5 graphics performance for smoother HTML, WebGL and data-driven signage than the HD tier
  • GPIO and IR for local triggers, button panels, indicators and simple installed-control events
  • microSD playback with an M.2 SSD storage option when a larger local content library is part of the plan

Where the BrightSign XD235 makes sense

PoE-powered retail displayUse one network run for power and content updates where outlet access is awkward behind a premium 4K display.
Data-driven dashboard screenRun HTML, WebGL motion and changing data on a dedicated player instead of relying on a browser PC at the display.
Portrait or narrow signageUse XD5-level playback for vertical menus, wayfinding screens and portrait retail visuals that need crisp 4K output.
Advanced LED playback sourceFeed a compatible processor or all-in-one controller with a reliable 4K source while the player handles scheduled content and network updates.

BrightSign XD235 specifications

Storage 256GB SSD PCIe (optional)
Video Decoding Single 4K (8-bit at 60p, 10-bit at 30p) or Dual Full HD; 4K Codecs: H.265 at 60p & H.264 at 30p
Playback Capability 4K Video: .TS, .MOV, .MP4, .MKV

Can the BrightSign XD235 be used with an LED wall?

Yes, but its role is specific: the BrightSign XD235 is the signage player that supplies the content signal. It stores and plays scheduled media, so a lobby screen, menu board or informational LED display does not need a computer left on-site just to keep content running.

For an LED wall, the BrightSign player’s HDMI output still needs to go into hardware that accepts and processes that signal. The NovaStar control system handles the LED-display work: a video processor or all-in-one controller accepts and scales the HDMI source, sending hardware outputs LED data, and receiving cards map that data to the LED modules. BrightSign handles the playlist, publishing method and playback reliability.

Move to XD1035 when the installation needs USB-A, USB-C or serial connections. Move to XT245 when the content plan requires the XT tier for 8K/HDR10 playback.

BrightSign XD5 model comparison

Start with output resolution and I/O. Those two choices usually decide the right BrightSign model faster than a long feature list.

Model Best for Output tier I/O level Choose it when
XD235 Advanced 4K signage Single 4K HDMI Standard I/O You need stronger WebGL and PoE+ with standard I/O.
XD1035 Interactive advanced 4K Single 4K HDMI Expanded I/O You need USB-A, USB-C, serial and responsive multi-touch WebGL.

BrightSign XD235 FAQ

Why choose BrightSign XD235 instead of HD225 or HD1025?

Choose XD235 when the project needs a stronger 4K player than HD5, especially for PoE-powered installs, smoother HTML/WebGL motion or heavier data-driven signage. HD225 and HD1025 are better when the main need is basic 4K playback with GPIO or expanded I/O.

What is the difference between XD235 and XD1035?

XD235 is the standard-I/O XD5 model. XD1035 is the expanded-I/O model with USB-A, USB-C and serial, making it better for touchscreens, peripherals and richer interactive signage.

Does XD235 support PoE+?

Yes. XD235 is in the XD tier where PoE-capable Ethernet can simplify installed signage wiring. Confirm the power budget and network switch or injector before planning a PoE installation.

Is XD235 good for interactive signage?

It works well for advanced HTML, WebGL and simple triggered experiences, but it is not the expanded-I/O model. If the installation needs USB touch, serial control or connected peripherals, compare XD1035 instead.

Can XD235 use an SSD for local content?

XD235 supports local playback from microSD and has an M.2 SSD storage path for larger content libraries. Use qualified storage and size it around the media library, update workflow and expected playback load.

Can XD235 feed a NovaStar LED wall setup?

Yes, as a 4K HDMI playback source into compatible processing hardware. The BrightSign player handles content and publishing; the NovaStar control system handles scaling, sending and receiving-card mapping for the LED modules.

Is BrightSign XD235 covered by a 5-year warranty?

New Series 5 players are eligible for BrightSign's registered 5-year hardware warranty program. Registration and BrightSign warranty terms apply; accessories, removable storage and separately purchased items are handled separately.

Do you offer bulk or reseller pricing for XD235?

Yes. For multi-screen retail, campus, corporate or reseller orders, send the quantity, destination and whether PoE deployment is part of the plan. We can quote XD235 as a project or volume order.
