What is the Altelix NF14VFA1C-NVS1?

If you need a NovaStar Taurus player mounted outdoors, the Altelix NF14VFA1C-NVS1 is the weatherproof box built to hold one. Its aluminum plate arrives pre-drilled for the TB30, TB50 and TB60. Your player bolts straight on, instead of being fitted to a box that was never meant for it.

The player is not included. This is the enclosure only, and you buy the Taurus separately.

Altelix makes it, not NovaStar — it is a third-party enclosure designed around NovaStar hardware, and the datasheet is Altelix’s.

You mount it, plug the fitted 5 ft cord into a nearby outlet, and it is live. No wiring is needed to get started, which is the difference between finishing the install today and booking an electrician.

What fits inside besides the player

Enough room for the network gear that usually has to live beside the player. Altelix sizes this box so a Cradlepoint LTE router, a cable modem or a Wi-Fi access point can go in alongside your Taurus. It names the Cradlepoint IBR650B as an example that fits with a TB60 already mounted.

Your gear has to fit the inside, not the outside. The usable space is 13.0 × 11.0 in with only 5.0 in of depth, and depth is what runs out first once your player and your router are stacked on the same plate.

The shell being fiberglass rather than metal is what makes that worth doing. Altelix specifies the material as RF transparent, so a cellular router or an access point inside still gets a signal out. Inside a steel box it would not reliably do that.

NF14VFA1C-NVS1 key features

The fan looks after itself

A sealed box in the sun cooks whatever is inside it, and nobody is going to drive out to switch a fan on. This one is thermostat controlled, starting at 100 °F and stopping again at 79 °F. Two 4 in vents with rain shrouds let the air through while keeping the weather out.

The fan is wired internally, so it does not use up one of your outlets.

Nothing inside has to be wired in

Everything you fit plugs in instead. Four 120 VAC outlets sit on the mounting plate, ready for your player and whatever else goes with it, fed by a 5 ft three-prong cord that is already attached.

When the temporary supply becomes permanent, the cord lifts out and a quick-connect terminal strip is there for an electrician to hard-wire it. You are not replacing the box to change how it is fed.

Sealed cable entries that stay sealed

Two PG-16 cable glands come fitted with a closed inner membrane, one sized for an HDMI cable and one for USB or Ethernet. Until you need them the seal is unbroken and the NEMA rating holds; when you do, you punch through the membrane, run the cable and tighten it down watertight.

Two is the count to check your install against. A third cable means drilling the shell yourself, which the fiberglass takes without trouble but which is on you to re-seal.

Altelix NF14VFA1C-NVS1 specifications

The two rows that decide your order are the inner dimensions and the maximum load. The outer figures only matter for the wall you are fixing it to.

Players it is drilled for NovaStar Taurus TB30, TB50 and TB60 — player not included
Inner dimensions 13.0 × 11.0 × 5.0 in (330 × 279 × 127 mm)
Outer dimensions 15.7 × 13.8 × 10.1 in (401 × 352 × 258 mm)
Mounting plate 2.5 mm aluminum, 10.9 × 12.8 in (276 × 324 mm)
Outlets 4 × 120 VAC, pre-wired
Maximum load 10 A at 120 VAC, total across everything inside
Power cord 5 ft (1.5 m), three-prong, removable
Cooling fan Thermostat controlled: on at 100 °F (38 °C), off at 79 °F (26 °C)
Cable glands 2 × PG-16 with closed inner seal — one HDMI, one USB or Ethernet
Weather rating NEMA Type 3R, 3RX / IP24
Shell material Fiberglass reinforced polyester, UL94-5V, RF transparent
Security Stainless steel hinge and quick-release latches with padlock hasps
Weight 12.4 lb (5.6 kg)
Mounting Stainless steel feet included; flange and pole kits available from Altelix

Figures come from the Altelix NF14VFA1C-NVS1 datasheet, Rev A. The IP24 rating means protection from spray, not immersion, which is the normal expectation for a vented outdoor enclosure.

How much can you plug into it?

10 A at 120 VAC in total, and that ceiling is for the whole box rather than for each outlet. Four outlets do not mean four unlimited circuits, so the sum that matters is everything you intend to run inside at once.

A Taurus player and a cellular router leave plenty of headroom. It is worth checking properly when the box is also feeding something with a real draw — a heater, a powered signal amplifier or a second player.

The fan draws from that same 10 A too, even though it never occupies one of your outlets.

NF14VFA1C-NVS1 datasheet and what to order with it

Nothing is configured in an enclosure, so there is no setup to plan and nothing to back up. What matters is ordering the right things alongside it.

The player is the obvious one. Your choice between the TB30, TB50 and TB60 comes from what your screen needs rather than from this box, because all three bolt to the same plate.

Altelix NF14VFA1C-NVS1 FAQ

Is a NovaStar player included?

No. This is the enclosure only. The mounting plate is pre-drilled for the Taurus TB30, TB50 and TB60, and the player is ordered separately.

Is this made by NovaStar?

No, it is made by Altelix. It is a third-party enclosure designed around NovaStar Taurus players, and the specifications come from Altelix rather than NovaStar.

Will an LTE router work inside it?

Yes. The fiberglass shell is specified as RF transparent, so a cellular router or Wi-Fi access point keeps its signal. Altelix names the Cradlepoint IBR650B as one that fits alongside a TB60.

Does the fan need wiring or setting up?

No. It is thermostat controlled and wired internally, starting at 100 °F and stopping at 79 °F, and it does not use one of the four outlets.

How much equipment can it power?

Up to 10 A at 120 VAC in total, shared across all four outlets and the fan, rather than 10 A per outlet.

Can it be hard-wired instead of plugged in?

Yes. The 5 ft cord is removable and there is a quick-connect terminal strip behind it, so a qualified installer can convert it later without changing the enclosure.

How many cables can I run into it?

Two through the fitted glands, one sized for HDMI and one for USB or Ethernet. More than that means drilling the shell and sealing it yourself, which the fiberglass allows.

Can it be pole mounted?

Yes, with an optional kit. Stainless steel feet for wall mounting are included, and Altelix offers flange and pole mounting kits separately.

What warranty covers this enclosure?

Altelix’s manufacturer warranty, not the NovaStar coverage that applies to the rest of our catalog — this is an Altelix product rather than a NovaStar one. Ask us for the current terms before you order.

Can I get volume pricing or Net 30 terms?

Yes. Send the quantity for volume pricing, which is worth doing on a multi-site rollout where each location takes one. Purchase orders and Net 30 terms may be available for approved schools, government buyers, venues and established integrators.

How do I order one?

Pricing here is per enclosure and does not include a player. Orders placed before 3 PM ET on in-stock items ship the same business day from Florida. Contact us to confirm current availability.

Request enclosure pricing →Measure your gear against 5 in of internal depth and total its draw against 10 A — those two numbers decide whether one box covers the site.
